What is a Lower Receiver Jig?

A lower receiver jig is a necessary tool for anyone that is looking to start AR building. The kits allow for you to mill and finish 80% lower receivers so you can build from scratch and customize your AR build.

You can purchase a variety of jigs on the internet, but there are specific jig kits for AR-10 and AR-15 builds. Make sure you purchase the right one! The jig kits we sell at American Made Tactical are engineered so you can finish multiple 80% lower receivers. As a beginner you might chew up some plates until you get good at finishing, but no worries, we sell replacement plates, too. When you become an expert at finishing 80%’ers, your plates can last for dozens of lowers.

Another important part of the jig is how you plan on milling it. To finish your 80% lower we recommend a standing or table-top drill press. This will make the process go much faster! However, our customers have used any and all milling and drilling devices, many homemade, to finish their 80 lowers. Your first lower can take 3-4 hours to complete, but as you get better you can easily finish them under 2 hours. We also recommend using an aluminum milling lubricant, this can help the milling process.

Bundle sets are the easiest way to get started. Our bundles come in 1, 3, 5, and 10 packs of lowers, and are finished with your choice of raw or anodized and with or without the fire/safe engraving. Finally, the jig kit is included. We do not include the milling bits, but those can be purchased separately on our site!

There are no laws or regulations about purchasing a jig, no FFL is required. Our kits are 100% Mil-spec and reusable. As always, they’re made in the USA. American Made Tactical ships quickly and discreetly to your door.
