In the wake of the Orlando shooting, of course, there are calls to ban assault rifles, outlaw guns, and repeal the second amendment. You can hear the screams coming from the media. It’s the same after every mass shooting. With the upcoming election, gun rights and the second amendment will be a hotter issue than ever. Hillary Clinton wants to ban AR-style rifles, accessories, and who knows what else. But that won’t happen without a fight. Donald Trump has aligned himself with the NRA and they surely won’t back down easily.

We’re seeing the erosion of our second amendment rights right now. Look at California, a federal appeals court ruled last week that the Second Amendment of the Constitution does not guarantee the right of gun owners to carry concealed weapons in public places. The decision upholds a law that puts a number of conditions and red tape around obtaining a concealed-carry permit.

It’s California now, but the rest of the U.S. could be right behind them. It’s starts with one law, one reform, then it’s a complete ban. The calls for gun control and reform will continue to get louder. We all know if Clinton is in the White House, there will surely be sweeping changes. Is it gun control or is it a war on terror that we are fighting? Is it a mental health issue? An immigration issue? No matter where you stand, you can find a group that aligns with your beliefs. Calling for a ban on guns or AR-style rifles will not stop shootings, it will not stop criminals, it will not stop people from obtaining guns or causing harm to innocent victims. Both sides have their opinions, but in the wake of yet another tragic mass shooting, the conversation has again gotten louder.
